San Francisco is...

The other day, my friend Natasha showed me this web site project her homegirl's been working on called "San Francisco Is" www.sanfranciscois.com What they do is, they go around to different neighborhoods and high-traffic areas in SF with a sign that says "San Francisco is" and ask people to fill in the blank with whatever they feel SF is, to them... and then they snap a photo and post it to their site. I think the idea is pretty dope! Keep doin' it y'all! It would be great to see them get out to some of the other, more local neighborhoods too! or... maybe use an iPhone or Blackberry or some type of camera phone and post the pics in realtime, as soon as they take them. That would be kinda sick!

Here's a little background on San Francisco Is:
San Francisco Is... started as a group project for an Advanced Graphic Design class at San Francisco State. They initially began work on specific locations in the city, and realized in doing research, that the concept and idea of defining the essence of San Francisco came about.

They wanted to find out... "What is it about San Francisco that people love and why does it continue to intrigue so many? What is San Francisco?"

... and they realized that there wasn’t one definite answer. In order to define San Francisco, a social experiment needed to be created.

Peep out www.sanfranciscois.com, they're definitely reppin' SF! If any of you get your own picture on there wearing some 4fifteen gear, holla at me. The first person to get up on there reppin' 4fifteen will win a teeshirt of their choice! Yee!

Twitter Me This...

I've been on Twitter quite a bit lately. I admit it gets kinda addicting. It's like a constant stream of status messages that consist of no more than 140 characters per message, also called micro-blogging. It gets pretty entertaining... seems like everyone and their mom is up on there, these days. The homies Lxele and Plug1 got me into Twitter, and at first I wasn't really feelin' it at all. But, then you start to discover all these celebrities and people with like interests and friends that are also using Twitter and it becomes really interesting to read what they're thinking, doing and encountering everyday... and it's fun to share your own thoughts and encounters with others too. I've found it a dope tool to help network with others in the game... I've met a bunch of cool folks.

Try it out, for yourself... www.twitter.com
Once you're on there, find us: 4fifteen www.twitter.com/4fifteen

And, of course join us on Facebook too! http://www.facebook.com/pages/4fifteen-clothing/17799352935

Independent Hustle

I've wanted to write about this song "Independent Hustle" by Skitz The Samurida & Estairy of the ScoJourners featuring Mike Marshall, for some time now. It's a sick song and the whole meaning of the song is dope.

In true Bay Area spirit and along the lines of the meaning of this song, I feel that 4fifteen clothing is on an independent hustle... when I listen to this song, I'm inspired to keep grindin' and workin' hard to get 4fifteen to where I want it to be. I'm doin' this for the passion for passion, as well. For the love I have for the City, and for creating dope shit that people will want to wear to rep SF!

I'm hella proud of the ScoJourners, (consisting of) Skitz, Curt Sak, Estairy, Max and An Na. I've known a few of them for quite some time now... we all grew up in the City and the City isn't all that big, so everyone knows eachother. You all know how it is. ... and they have kept following their dreams. It looks like it's all starting to pay off... they should be proud. Keep it up y'all!! See ya at the top!

The ScoJourners new album should be droppin' this Summer. Definitely gonna be dope!

This sick ass tattoo...

I was like "Holy shit! That's fuckin crazy!! This dude got a tat of the 4fifteen bridge!" It's definitely an honor for me that someone got a logo that I designed engraved onto their skin. That's sick! Thanks for sharing our love of SF... this has got to be one of the best places on Earth! We are definitely hookin Matt up with some 4fifteen gear for reppin so hard. Right on Matt! Keep reppin SF/4fifteen!

Crisp and Clean. 4fifteen.

Spring/Summer 2009 Line
This season, we're keeping things clean and crispy. White tees and one heather gray tee with simple colorways for the designs. I wanted to let the designs really speak for themselves on clean canvases. I'm quite pleased with how these four designs turned out.

Golden State Kings. Representing all of Northern Cali... we are the Kings! Comes in two colorways, both on white teeshirts. Black outline w/ gold crown (as shown above) and Royal Purple outline w/ gold crown.

Fog City. San Francisco is the Fog City. Black and white design on a heather gray teeshirt. Reps the Fog City well.

SF Sign Language. Reppin' The City with various street signs from throughout the city. Reppin' all different neighborhoods. Can you find your street?

San Franciscans Read Between the Lines. At first glance, this design may not make any sense to you. It might look like a bunch of words throw together. Look closer. If you read between the lines (or every other line), there's a hidden message. Welcome. We don't call it Frisco.

A few baby-sized pieces are on the way as well, for the pint-sized San Franciscans. Never too young to rep the 4fifteen! They should be ready in April too.

Hope you guys like em. The shirts are being printed up right now and will be available for purchase on the 4fifteen web site in April. In addition, they'll be for sale at The Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown on April 11-12 and 18-19. Come by our booth and say hey!

Interview by Plug1 at WhatImSeeing.com

I met Plug1 from one of my favorite blogs, WhatImSeeing.com, in 2008. Plug1 takes really dope photos around the City and also posts a lot of interesting and little known facts about SF. He recently posted an interview we did, on the site. I'm honored to be a part of WhatImSeeing!
Read the entire interview.

What up Plug1! Thank you!

4fifteen Clothing Featured on Thrillist!

4fifteen was recently featured on Thrillist.

"Just as SF icons like the GG Bridge and Coit Tower are immediately recognizable for their magnificence, those who sport them on their clothing are immediately recognizable for their punificence. For gritty local gear that doesn't come with postcard aesthetics, recognize 4fifteen..." Read the entire feature.

Thanks for this great opportunity!!
